Bassett – Testimonials

Need 40 tradesmen? Look under Queens Wharf!

Fifteen plumbers from Albany-based Bassett Plumbing and Drainage, and 25 electricians and technicians from Allendale Electrical and OCL Ltd, have donned not only the usual construction uniform of hard hat and boots, but a lifejacket and head torch to go to work.

“It’s not the run of the mill plumbing or electrical job at all,” says Kalmar Project Manager Michaela McGeorge. “Going to work involves calculating the tide level, anticipating the weather, loading all the tools and materials onto a floating pontoon and being towed beneath the wharf.”

Michaela says the plumbers have installed a new wastewater pipe and storage tanks linking facilities at Shed 10 and The Cloud with the Quay St main sewer line, as well as new potable water and hydrant mains. The electricians and technicians have replaced power infrastructure and installed data cables across the full 2.7 hectares of the wharf.
